An Awful Cold

Have you ever been in love?  I have, in varying degrees.  It enthralls me, the moments that bring people together.  That single second in the universe that decides their meeting, connection and union.  So many people in this planet and just one of you.  One person who will share your thoughts and feelings, their life with you.  Someone who’ll know you in that absolute, primal way.  Someone who’ll be there when life is dreary and hurtful.  That person who’ll kiss and hug you tight when you feel ugly, besieged by an awful cold.  My first relationship lasted years, a grade one student by the time we let go.  And though I’ve forgotten how it was to have been in love with him, there will always be love.  And despite all the hurt and misunderstandings, it’s the good things that we choose to remember.  It’s the lovely things that matter.  Sometimes, things don’t end up the way you always thought it would and that’s okay.  You cry, over analyze, pick yourself up and let go.

let it go – the
e.e. cummings

let it go – the
smashed word broken
open vow or
the oath cracked length
wise – let it go it
was sworn to
go

let them go – the
truthful liars and
the false fair friends
and the boths and
neithers – you must let them go they
were born
to go

let all go – the
big small middling
tall bigger really
the biggest and all
things – let all go
dear

so comes love
